About Knick Knacks & More and How it All Started
Our Story
What began as a mission to liquidate and close out a few local storage units after the passing of our parents, quickly turned into something much greater. We couldn’t simply donate or toss away the things they loved and cherished, so we started searching for the perfect location to share those treasures with others.
In July 2024, we found it—right in the heart of our community in Ballentine. With Kelley’s vision and Kyle’s craftsmanship—supported by the capable hands of our daughters and contractor son-in-law—the project grew into something much bigger than we ever imagined, a true family endeavor built with love, laughter, and countless hours of hard work and dedication.
We were originally slated to open on October 1, 2024, but nature had other plans. On September 26, 2024, Hurricane Helene made landfall in South Carolina. Thankfully, our shop suffered no damage, but both our home and the store were left without power for nine long days. It wasn’t the grand opening we had imagined, but it reminded us of the importance of patience, perseverance, and gratitude for the love and support around us.
Once the power was finally restored, and life was back on track, we officially opened our doors on October 8, 2024—with even more excitement and determination to bring our vision to life. Soon after we opened, we decided to transform a portion of our store into not just a boutique vendor mall, but also a local art supply house and creative studio for our community.
We are so thankful for our children’s support and incredibly proud of Kyle’s continued hard work and dedication in bringing this dream to life. What began as a simple goal has now grown into a space filled with creativity, community, and connection.

Shortly after opening, we launched Kolorful Kreations—our full art studio. We proudly carry trusted brands like Fusion Mineral Paints, Dixie Belle Paints, Iron Orchid Designs, Amy Howard Studios, Zibra Paint Brushes, Re·Design by Prima, Essential Stencils, and so much more. Beyond supplies, Kolorful Kreations offers guided classes, pay-by-the-hour studio rentals, and even intimate room rentals for your special occasions. It’s a space designed to inspire creativity, connection, and community.

The Kottage Kitchen officially opened in April 2025 and is now serving up fresh baked goods daily -
We carry sour dough breads, brownies, cake pops, cookies, cinnamon rolls, chocolate covered pretzels, trail mixes, banana bread and so much more!!
